The coronavirus pandemic has forced us all to interact with familiar surroundings in new ways but an unexpected positive of the pandemic has been our new found appreciation of local nature and the environment. Overnight bedrooms became offices our gardens and local green spaces became wildlife sanctuaries and gyms.
Our environment is a unique and precious asset and there is a powerful appetite for environmental change.
Action on Climate Change can seem intimidatingly large and abstract but by connecting communities, empowering people to engage and contribute to community development through dialogue. We can all play a part in delivering real impact right here on our doorstep.
Reducing carbon emissions , waste reduction, reuse and redistribution of food, furniture, clothing and toys in doing so generating wider benefits for our local community: improving health and wellbeing, increasing community pride and supporting skills, training and jobs.
This festive season we can all pause for moments of quiet reflection on both what we can achieve individually and together for our local environment and the legacy we leave for future generations.
I wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
