Basingstoke MP Maria Miller was pleased to attend the first quarterly meeting for members of the Basingstoke and District Disability Forum, following its relaunch earlier this year.
The morning event, held at Popley Fields Community Centre, gave Forum members the opportunity to hear from a number of speakers, including a briefing from Spectrum, a Centre for Independent Living. They also held a workshop session to discuss ideas about improvements to help disabled people in and around Basingstoke, with the outcomes to be fed back to the Borough and County Councils.
Maria said: “The Disability Forum’s re-launch has helped to refocus awareness of the support and advice available to disabled people and their carers. It can sometimes be very difficult to know how to access help, and the Disability Forum provides a really important signposting service to make sure people get the help they need.”
