Maria Miller MP has welcomed the new unemployment figures for Basingstoke from October 2015. The figures state that 667 people in Basingstoke claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance in October 2015, representing a rate of 1.1% of the economically active population, trumping the 2.5% national average. Last month in Basingstoke 27 less people claimed Jobseeker’s Allowance than in September 2015, with a fall of 113 claimants since October last year.
Maria said: “Here in Basingstoke we have one of the lowest levels of unemployment in the country; this is great news for people who want to work hard and get on. It is excellent to see figures for those claiming Jobseekers Allowance falling, demonstrating that more and more people in Basingstoke have the security of employment and a regular pay packet.”
