Local MP Maria Miller is looking forward to welcoming Miriam Van Nyvel from Marnel Infant School to Westminster who has been successful in her application to attend the UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador Programme 21-23 January 2019.
Teachers attend a three-day training event in Parliament, fully funded by Parliament’s Education and Engagement Service. Attendees have the opportunity to question the House of Commons Speaker and the Lord Speaker, and hear from parliamentarians of all parties about their work. Following the programme, teachers will go back to develop their students' and colleagues' understanding of Parliament and democracy, and will benefit from continuing partnership with Parliament's Education and Engagement Service.
Maria said “I very much look forward to welcoming Miriam Van Nyvel from Marnel Infant School to Westminster to train as a UK Parliament Teacher Ambassador. Engaging with the work of the UK Parliament is crucial to developing students’ understanding of democracy and I’m proud that our local teachers are playing their part in developing the leaders of tomorrow.”
Teachers’ Institute is exceptionally well-regarded by the participants each year and, since the start of the scheme, hundreds of teachers have been trained, who themselves have gone on to train thousands more of their students and colleagues.
