Basingstoke MP Maria Miller has invited the Managing Directors of South Western Rail and Network Rail’s Wessex Route to a meeting in Basingstoke to meet local rail commuters, and to hear from them directly their concerns about poor performance on the railway network, particularly between Basingstoke and London Waterloo.
The meeting will be in Basingstoke at 7.00pm on Thursday 7 February. Andy Mellors, Managing Director of SWR and Andy Thomas, Managing Director of Network Rail’s Wessex Route have both confirmed that they will be attending.
Maria said: “Many of my constituents who regularly travel by rail have real concerns about the performance of the trains on the mainline to London, and level of customer service when things go wrong. I thought it was important to invite the two companies responsible to hear their customers’ views directly and it was disappointing that they did not attend a meeting previously arranged in December.
“I have now arranged a further meeting, and am pleased that both Managing Directors have confirmed they will attend. Any Basingstoke constituents who would like to come along should email me (maria.miller.mp@parliament.uk) with their postal address, to register and for further information.”
