Maria Miller MP visited the Basingstoke offices of employee benefits provider Unum, located at Basing View. She was welcomed by the Chief Executive Officer Peter O’Donnell and members of his senior management team.
Maria heard about the company, which is a United States-based business, with offices in Surrey, and with around 300 staff in the Basingstoke office, which is its main operational site in the UK. Unum provides income protection insurance as well as health and dental cover, and vocational rehabilitation services.
Maria was also briefed on the company’s Inclusion and Diversity strategy, their work to address the gender pay gap, and their emphasis on corporate social responsibility, which enables Unum staff to support local charities and voluntary organisations.
Maria said: “It was good to meet with Unum and hear more about their business and the support they give companies and individuals to return to work after illness. I was really interested in the company’s commitment to closing the gender pay gap, and the importance they attach to flexible working practices and gender equality in the workplace.”
